LAPD K9 dogs in PDN!

July 6th, 2011I’m trying to shoot more lifestyle-like work. A little more candid, people smiling and laughing – basically more commercial friendly work I guess. This was my first attempt. I didn’t quite hit the mark with the lifestyle aspect but I’m happy with the results. Plus, it’s the first time I’ve shot at the beach (and I’ve lived at the beach for 5 years, since I moved to California)

June 2nd, 2011At the beginning of May my team and I got together to shoot a fashion story inspired by all the prints we are seeing currently. Jessica (signed with Q model mgmt in Los Angeles) was our model and it’s hard to believe she’s only 16! Big props to my crew for hiking up long hills with all their gear…here are some outtakes from the editorial…

April 12th, 2011About a month ago I did a test shoot with Marley (from Envy Model Mgmt). We grabbed a few outfits and hiked to a pine grove in Griffith Park. As much as I love pre-visualizing a shoot and then making what I see in my mind a reality, I also love going out into the world with no plan…because that is when magic happens – like this shot (which was one of my favs of the day)

March 14th, 2011In January I visited the Los Angeles zoo. Going to the zoo reminds me of childhood and so I decided to process the images with that in mind. Actually, it was that – combined with my love of square format photos from the 1970’s.

February 17th, 2011One day in January Teal and Shayla came over and I played around with different lighting (and then processing) techniques. My setups were very simple – I either used late afternoon window light or one strobe shot through a translucent panel (which Shayla was standing in front of).
