Back in September I was contacted by Atlanta-based makeup artist, MiMi Johnson. She does a blog feature called “I’m Inspired” – which is essentially a video interview – and she was coming to LA and wanted to feature me! Despite the fact that being on camera makes me nervous, I agreed – and we even planned to do a quick shoot together as well so I brought along one of my all-time favourite models – Alexandra Mathews. MiMi was staying at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood and so instead of bring along a ton of gear, I decided to “get inspired” by whatever the room held (it’s a good thing too, because security at the Roosevelt is insane!). This hotel room was like any other – there was nothing remarkable about it – so I knew that I wouldn’t be focusing on the surroundings – luckily there was a large window letting in a fair amount of midday light – which helped me blow out the backgrounds.
