fstopinertia - photography of angela marklew » children http://fstopinertia.com Just another WordPress weblog Fri, 03 Sep 2010 03:02:22 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.8.6 en hourly 1 Photographing Kids http://fstopinertia.com/photography/photographing-kids/ http://fstopinertia.com/photography/photographing-kids/#comments Mon, 15 Feb 2010 21:21:51 +0000 admin http://fstopinertia.com/?p=124 It’s been said that children and animals are the hardest subjects to photograph – but I think it’s more accurate to say that children and animals are the hardest subjects to work with.  That being said, one of my favourite clients is Go Gently Baby – an eco-friendly clothing company for kids.  I’ve been working with them for the past couple years and every time we shoot a look book, it’s always an adventure.  Not only do I love working with the kids each season, but I love everything about the line.  In addition to being constructed locally, all the garments are made with organic and sustainable fabrics and are coloured with water based inks and low impact dyes.  They strive to share their vision of teaching kids to be kind to the Earth and to go gently on their journey through life.

I actually find the challenge of working with kids loosens up my shooting style – working with non-professional kids this young (the oldest being 4), there isn’t a lot of direction they’ll take, nor do you have their attention for very long – so it forces you to capture more candid moments and to move around with the kids.  It also allows me to be more playful, which is always something I appreciate.
